Planning a kitesurf trip to Fuerteventura? Where you sleep matters more than most riders expect. The right base means less time in a car and more time on the water — being able to walk from your room to the boat is the difference between a good trip and a great one.
At Fuerte Active we teach by boat from Corralejo harbour. We don't run the accommodation ourselves, so you book your room directly with the hotel — but we can tell you exactly where to stay so you're minutes from the boat instead of driving across the island every morning. Here's how to plan it.
The accommodation we recommend: Surfing Colors
We recommend Surfing Colors in Corralejo — a relaxed, modern hotel and apartment complex built for active travellers rather than package tourists. Rooms and apartments are comfortable and practical, several with a kitchenette, and there's a swimming pool, free wifi and a gym a few steps away.
What makes it work for kiters is the location: it sits close to the beaches, a few minutes from our harbour base, and within walking distance of the centre of town. You are not driving across the island before every lesson.

Our kitesurf courses
Whatever your level, you'll be learning with IKO-certified instructors, with boat support and a maximum of two students per instructor. Our lessons are taught in Spanish and English.
- Never kited before? Start with our beginner kitesurfing course — from your first flight of the kite on land to your first metres riding.
- Already riding? The intermediate course takes you to riding upwind, your first transitions and independence on the water.
- Want to push further? The advanced course works on jumps, waves and the technique that comes after independence.
How close are the spots?
- Our harbour base: a few minutes from the accommodation — this is where the boat leaves from.
- Grandes Playas / Flag Beach: the long white-sand beaches beside the dunes, just outside town.
- El Cotillo: a short drive to the west coast for lagoons and waves.
- Isla de Lobos: straight out in front of you, and the view you'll be riding towards.
What if there's no wind?
It happens, even on Fuerteventura. That's why we don't only do kite: on a light day you can go snorkelling around Isla de Lobos, try wakeboarding or paddle surfing, or simply explore the dunes and the old town. Your trip doesn't stop because the wind does.

No. Our courses are open to everyone, wherever you're staying. The accommodation simply makes the trip easier, because you're minutes from the boat.

What language are the lessons taught in?

How far are the kitesurf spots from the accommodation?
Our harbour base is a few minutes away, and the main Corralejo spots are just outside town. El Cotillo is a short drive to the west coast.
